CRB7 ROUTER JIG MK3 UPGRADES
MPOWER continually tries to improve all its products, over the last few years the following amendments have been carried out on the CRB7. The CRB7 Perspex baseplate and protective plastic film has been replaced with a superior tougher POM injection moulded baseplate. Due to the Pivot Pin unscrewing itself from its magnetic storage recess built into the CRB7 bridge, the pivot pin is now stored along with other essential small components used in operation of the CRB7. To improve the performance of the Big Compass Kit, the location of the Pivot Pin recess is now used as the mounting/attachment point of the Big Compass Kit rods. The original Self Adhesive rule was discontinued as it was discovered that it was more accurate to measure and position the router bit using the Micro Adjustor and aligning it with the “marking outs” on the workpiece.
MPOWER’s CRB7 Universal Combination Router Base is no ordinary Router Jig. It’s a versatile system that offers excellent control through a multitude of routing operations.
Fits Over 650 Models of Router
The offset, cranked rod design, allows the CRB7 to quickly adjust and fit over 650 models of router.
Micro Adjustment
Positions the router bit with a precise degree of accuracy so you can use an undersized bit to creep up to your desired point incrementally, especially useful when mortising or cutting a dado.
7 Functions
Performing 7 functions straight out of the box with an every growing number of accessories, the CRB7 Routing System is fast becoming one of our most popular tools.
1. Offset Baseplate
Increases overall router stability, reducing errors when edge molding by more than doubling the surface contact area between router and work piece. CRB7 also positions the pivot hand guiding the router toward the center of the panel, smoothing out the router pass action, reducing the chance of burn marks
2. Small Circle Compass
Route precision circles and holes that are actually smaller than the base of the router. Micro Adjust the circle dimension without disturbing the set up.
Min Radius / Diameter: ¾” 19mm) / 1.1/2” (38mm)
Max Radius / Diameter: 8.¾” (225mm) / 17.1/2” (450mm)
Measured using a ¼” (6mm) straight router cutter.
3. Anti Tilt Support
Another first, variable height triangulated stabilization. Usually most of the router base remains unsupported when edge routing. The CRB7 Anti Tilt Leg supports the router eliminating router tilt, especially important when routing work pieces with a high aspect ratio.
4. Adjustable Mortising
A unique feature that allows “Centred and Off Centred” mortises. Decide on and precisely control the actual dimensions of the mortise.
5. Large Circle Compass
Cut circles over 4ft in diameter. Super fast set-up means that the router doesn’t even have to be taken from the CRB7. Maintains the same level of precision, adjustability and accuracy of cut that the CRB7 has always provided.
6. False Panel Rebate Copier
The CRB7 provides a simple and exceptionally quick way of accurately repeating a molded dado. Ideal for production batch quality faux or false panelling.
7. Adjustable Clamp Guide
Run the CRB7 up against your clamp guide to accurately route parallel dados along the length or width of your work piece. The Micro Adjuster reduces clamp guide set up time.
Quick Set-Up
Fitting the CRB7 to your favourite router couldn’t be easier. The New Crank Plates and additional set of Guide Rods allow the CRB7 to be fitted to any router with “2 x through rod drillings and rod pinch bolt “. Select the correct sized Rods for your router and the Adjustable Crank Plates will adjust rod height and width simultaneously.
Quick Change
Unlike most router jigs, the CRB7 can be fitted/removed in no time. No fiddly screws or special fitting plates required.
New Locking Bars
Help to tighten and loosen the guide rods during initial “Set Up” and Large Compass assembly.
Indexed Micro Adjuster
Allows precise control over the router cutter position. Knurled and indexed for ease of use
2″ Bakelite Ball Handle
Ergonomic design, comfortable to the touch, allows for easy hours of consecutive use.
Two-Part Anti Tilt Leg
Supports and stabilizes the router when edge routing. The two leg sections accommodate combinations of router position and work piece thickness.
Pro-Grade Build
Made in the United Kingdom. The CRB7 is manufactured to the highest standards. Including hard anodized, solid aluminium bridge, laser cut 3/16” (5mm) thick acrylic base plate and precision turned steel and brass components.
Two Year Guarantee
Our extended guarantee is testimony to the build quality of the CRB7 MK3 and ensures our customers can buy in confidence

My CRB7 didn’t come with a self adhesive rule? The original Self Adhesive rule was discontinued as it was discovered that it was more accurate to measure and position the router bit using the CB Micro adjuster and aligning it with the “markings out” on the workpiece
My CRB7 doesn’t have the pivot pin magnetic storage recess? Due to the Pivot Pin unscrewing itself from it’s magnetic storage recess built into the CRB bridge. The Pivot Pin is now stored along with other essential small components used in operation of the CRB.
My CRB7 baseplate didn’t come with the protective plastic film around it? The CRB Perspex baseplate and protective plastic film has been replaced with a superior tougher POM injection moulded baseplate.
The pivot pin hole was smaller and it wouldn’t fit ? To improve the performance of the Big Compass Kit the location of the Pivot Pin recess is now used as the mounting/attachment point of the Big Compass Kit rods.
My router cutter does not sit centrally in the CRB’s base plate letterbox – Is this a problem?
No It’s not a problem – Providing the outer edge of the cutter clears the parameter of the base plate letterbox. It does not affect the performance of the CRB.
The rods of the CRB have a smaller diameter than the rods of my router – Will the CRB still work with my router?
The short answer is yes, the CRB MkIII includes 3 sets of rods with different diameters 2 x 9/32” (7mm) and 2 x 5/16” (8mm) and 2 x 24/64″ (10mm) This allows the CRB7 MkIII to fit a larger range of different makes and models of router. It is recommended to fit the largest rod diameters that the router base will allow. As the closer the fit between rod and router base rod drilling minimizes the router tracking or crabbing on the baseplate when using the micro adjuster.
For previous versions, any missing accessory rods are available on the following link or please ask your stockist and M.Power would be more than happy to supply them through your favorite store.
It’s important during set up to ensure that the CRB rods are set up precisely so that the bottom of the CRB rods rest exactly at the bottom the router base rod drillings. It’s also important to use 2 x spanners when tightening and locking the Adjuster rod in position on the bridge. Using just a single spanner can rotate the rod and cranked plate assembly out of alignment.
I’m confused which CRB7 model have I got?
You can identify the models by checking the following details:
The MkI includes a shim kit to adjust the bridge height and also has black dia 5/16” (8mm) rods and no cranked plates.
The MkII has cranked plates fitted between the 2 x main rods and the bridge and no shim kit – The rods can be either dia 9/32” (7mm) or dia 5/16” (8mm).
The MkIII includes 3 sets of rods dia 9/32” (7mm), dia 5/16” (8mm) and dia 24/64″ (10mm) and the Large Compass Kit.
I have a large router usually fitted to a router table. Will the CRB still work with it?
Yes it will, however due to the heavier weight of the router and in some cases much larger rods and rod drillings, There may be increased resistance when the router moves across the CRB baseplate when using the micro adjuster. Larger diameter rods improve this movement and reduce the chance of tracking.
Measure the rod drillings in the base of the router in order to ascertain which of the Larger accessory rods to order if you have an earlier version.
Why is the Micro Adjuster stiff to turn when my router is mounted on the CRB, but easy to turn when the router is taken off?
This can be caused when setting up the CRB to your router. It is very important to use 2 x spanners when tightening and locking the Adjuster rod in position. Using a single spanner can rotate the rod and cranked plate assembly out of alignment. Altering the rods position relative to the router-base rod drilling and setting up tension between router and CRB, which in-turn creates a stiff Micro Adjuster. Larger heavier routers will make the micro adjustment stiffer.
I’m finding the instruction manual quite difficult to follow. We’re sorry for any confusion caused by the complicated nature of the instruction manual. It is in part due to the number of functions and the numerous variations of set-up for the many different routers that the CRB fits. We have produced a Computer generated demonstration video which shows initial set up and goes through all the functions. Customers have said this has been helpful in their understanding of the tool.
Is the plastic protective coating/covering on the bottom of the router base meant to be peeled off before use?
Its only there for protection of the Baseplate during manufacture and assembly and is designed to be removed before use. Some people do leave it on as long as possible however its only temporary.
Can you tell me what router bit type would be recommended to use with the liptrim kit when finishing off glue on edging?
A straight flute with a diameter larger than the edge your gluing is good. Although I prefer a bowl bit as it reduces the chance of break out.
Is there a fix for the older Bosch Routers with rod drillings a little smaller than the 10mm rod size? One of our customers fixed it by simply drilling out the holes on the old router base which works like a charm.

Quality Product – I used the CRB7 and Mortising kit to rout the dovetails on the pedestal of a Shaker candle stand table and it worked like a charm. It saved a lot of time and the joints came out perfectly. Thank you again for a quality product and for standing behind it.

Great Product – I have used the M-Power CRB7 jig with a DeWalt DCW600 20V trim router to cut circles out of 3/4 inch plywood with great results. I like the micro adjustment feature which allows for the easy adjustment of the circle diameter to the exact size desired. I have also used the same setup to install T-track on a bench and use the edge guide to make evenly spaced dados for the next row of T-track. I highly recommend the CRB7 and find it to be great quality.

Excellent Product – I got this before the router showed up so I didn’t get to mess with it for almost a month. When I did start to get it set up I spent a good bit of time but once I got the hang of it I cut precise dados that worked out perfect on the first try. I would advise buying the edge guide with it and get a digital height/depth gauge, or setup blocks, to set the router bit height/depth. Also, if you buy a Dewalt (dw628) router it apparently doesn’t come with the required thumb screws, though everything fits together. So I had to get some metric bolts for now and order the thumb screws. The one thing I with this kit had was a storage case for all the little parts. I will come up with one, and usually I don’t like the stock cases anyway, but it this case I’m using the box it shipped in at the moment. If you are woodworking with routers this is definitely worth the investment.

May not fit your router – Does this jig work? Yes, however it took me considerable time to get it to work with my router. I have a fairly large Skill unit. Interestingly it has very small passages cast into the base for the rods to pass through. I had to actually drill them out! Additionally the locks for the rods on my router are underneath so I cannot access both. I can only lock to one rod, Obviously I chose the adjustable rod. I am considering modifying the base to allow access to both rods. That aside I am so far happy. Going to cut a couple large circles later this morning.

Best thing since sliced…. – have four Bosch routers, found their guide adequate but with short comings. took a look at this unit and it is an absolutely great upgrade. the fact that it is capable of multiple chores and is built with precision should not get in the way of it just being fun to work with. added the edge trim guide and spent the afternoon finding out what it was capable of. I’m happy as a clam.

Mpower Combination Router Base CRB7 – I contacted the Mpower factory direct via email and they have amazing customer support. They sent me out the 12mm rods free of charge for my Dewalt Router. I am very happy with the product now and will definitely buy from them again
Ted via Rockler –
A well thought out and welcomed product – I’ve been a wood worker for 25 years. I have almost exclusively used a router table and table saw when routing, because I haven’t liked the stability of a router. I bought this product (along with the edging trim kit) to hopefully give me the stability I wanted and therefore, additional versatility. It did exactly that and more. Edge trimming and flush trimming are finally a breeze without the worry of “dimples”. While I do most of my mortising using a standalone mortiser (go figure), there have been times when I needed to create a mortise “after the fact” on a project. This does it easily. My favorite feature is the ability to create repetitive dados knowing that the alignment is perfect. One the main keys to good working and safety is control. This product finally does that for me when using a router by hand. It will take you a few minutes to get it set up, but once I did, I have been able to leave it attached for all of my hand-held routing needs. I recommend it highly.
Eddie via Rockler –
Great Product – It easily allows accurate workmanship – I have modified my Combination Router Base to provide more stability between the router and the base. It felt that the base was too flimsy to take some of the pressure during cuts and had concerns of the 2 screws below cracking the plate. Also found the plate was flexing away from the router base plate. Method used was a piece of wood with 2 holes for the rods to pass through freely and it is screwed upward at Read More

A Quality Tool – I use this primarily for making circles, but it can be used as an edge guide also. I like that the router is positioned by the rails and not with the myriad bolt patterns for different makes’ sub-bases. I wish the micro-adjustment device worked a little smoother and easier, but overall this tool has worked well and I can see it has more uses I have yet to employ.
Slapshot –
You spin me round – Bang On – This is not like the photo and I don’t care. Easy set up, not getting why some cannot centre their routers, my porter cable, dewalt, and ryobi Were a breeze. I love that you can “creep up” on your cut diameters, and make ANY small adjustments necessary. Well worth the price difference for a circle jig. Buy this, it’ll destress Your circle cutting.
Easy set up, easy to use. Real pleasure how simple this is to set up and adjust. Versatile, fast, steady for round and straight cuts. Don’t understand concerns regarding smaller rods than before: they still tighten in all 3 routers I own, and if you push your cuts hard enough to bend them, you’re probably snapping your bits. Learn to use tools! Highly recommended product.

Top notch engineering – I haven’t had a chance to use every feature this is has. There are so many ways to use this simple yet elegant piece of equipment, it will be some time before all are tried out. Fit and finish are great and the functions I have tried were easy to set up and came out perfectly. I do high-end fine woodworking as well as speaker building, and this tool accessory is a jewel for the price of a rock! I recommend the edging kit if you work with plywood part #365-652 See review.

First Day – I used the M.POWER CRB7 for the first time today for a dual 6 ½”woofer, soft dome tweeter build. I was using my Dewalt DW618PK. I wasn’t able to use the handle that comes with the CRB7 for most of my cuts because of the Dewalt handles interfering.
I ended up making a small adapter to keep my cuts accurate. The posts that mount to the plunger section of my Dewalt are smaller in diameter and caused play in router to CRB7 mounting. It would be a lot nicer if there were sleeves to make it a tight fit. My adapter did not work for all cut diameters I needed.
The CRB7 is a lot nicer and easier to use then a similar kit that I bought from sears.

Great Circle Jig – I love this tool. I use a digital micrometer to set the diamter and knock out perfect circles. It’s as accurate as you can measure. You are not locked into 1/16th of an inch increments. Oh and it does a bunch of other stuff I have not tried yet.

Functionality – Adds a lot of functionality to my small DeWalt Router.

I like it! – I have had this for a couple of years, and while I do not do as much woodworking as I used to, it is particularly versatile when you need to use a router for many common hand held procedures. I have used it for edge banding, dados and grooves, and a couple of circle cuts over the years.
My only complaint is not really with the base, but with the Porter-Cable 690 router that I use with it. I use a plunge base, and it is very handy. However, the PC690 uses regular Phillips head screws to lock the router to the guide rails, and nobody sells thumbscrews in the 12-24 pitch that you need to replace them. Nobody, that is, except for Amazon.com. Who will be happy to sell you between 800 and 4000 of them. Why that would be is a very good question.

One nice thing.. – This jig takes a little getting used to [what doesn’t?], but it works. I suggest you take a little care with it. My son used it as a circle cutter and succeeded on his first try. One nice thing is that it gives you a way to see exactly where your adjustments take the bit, before a cut is ever made. The base is plastic, as is the edge-guide. So don’t toss it around. It is from a British company, and they have thought out various operations. Videos are available on their website, and on YouTube. Buy it on sale, or with credit card/Amazon points, and you will be getting a useful piece of equipment. I also have a Micro Fence, which is more expensive, but more robust. I use whichever makes the job easy and efficient.

Quality first and foremost – I have used the other plastic circle guide but this is the real deal very well engineered and well thought out. if you build speakers or do any amount of wood work this should be in your tool selection before you buy more bits fast accurate and worth the investment.
